Meet Dr. Russell Sandman
I am most excited about providing patients with a smile that arms them with the confidence to succeed in the world. I care immensely about providing each individual with a stable, functional bite and smile.
One of the things I treasure most about orthodontics is that it provides me with a wide spectrum of different types of patients to treat and interact with. Whether the patient is an adolescent or a mature adult, the variety of orthodontic challenges and personality differences make every day a fun, new challenge and an opportunity to learn and engage.
I understand the life-changing effect that orthodontic treatment can have on a person. My own orthodontic treatment made such an impact on my childhood development and the genesis of my personal self-confidence, and allowed me to become the man I am today.
Education and Continuing Education
A native of East Brunswick, I attended Binghamton University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in biology. I was awarded a Dean’s Merit Scholarship to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where I graduated with my Doctorate of Dental Medicine. While at Penn, I was elected president of the orthodontic society and served as a member of the curriculum committee. In order to specialize in the field of orthodontics, I continued on to Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, where I earned my Master of Science in orthodontics.
My commitment to excellence has led me to attend every continuing education course the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists offers, every MASO (Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists) meeting, and most annual AAO meetings. In addition, I am a board-certified orthodontist who focuses largely on smile aesthetics and progressive concepts in orthodontics, such as TADs and Damon™ treatment. My professional affiliations include the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists, the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists.

I currently live in the Upper West Side of Manhattan with my wife Tamar and our daughter Ella. I am passionate about exercise, swimming, baseball, football, basketball, tennis, and golf. I am also a lover of art, writing, and all the wonderful cultural events offered in the great city of New York.
